Rob,

The music feels like an Irish pub come from the 18 hundreds into the life of Manhattan. The spirit is filled with the playful irony of the fellow who appears to be a bystander as the woman dances around him.

You use the setting of the town to show the phases of his hopes for the relationship. The use of the cupid spirit acts as a double symbol. We often view cupid with love, but you go beyond because the character is also reminiscent of the playful leprechaun in Irish folklore.
